Jai Shri Krishna. The Dera Ghazi Khan Sabha, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi (Regd. No. S/10244/1979), is a body registered in 1979 under the Delhi Societies Registration Act. Its members are mainly Punjabi Hindus originally from Dera Ghazi Khan, now in western Pakistan. Our ancestors migrated from Dera Ghazi Khan after Partition and settled in and around Delhi. The Sabha's day-to-day activities are run by an elected body drawn from its members. The body's members serve on a standard term basis, with an Annual General Meeting held each year. The Dera Ghazi Khan Sabha began the renovation of a small Shri Krishna temple at K-15, Khirki Extension, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. At the time the temple was in a dilapidated state and housed a single idol of Lord Krishna. With devotees' help, the Sabha renovated the Krishna Darbar and also established a Ram Darbar. A few years later a Shivalaya (with Maa Parvati, Maa Gauri, Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartikeya) and a Durga Mata Darbar were added. In the last decade, idols of Lord Hanuman and the Laxmi Narayan Darbar were added, and in 2009 a grand idol of Shri Sai Baba was installed. Besides the shrines, the temple has a large air-conditioned hall on the ground floor with a stage and sound system for all functions, along with rooms for devotees and charitable services. By God's grace and devotees' active support, a large hall was also built on the second floor for yoga, bhandaras and similar activities, with a kitchen that can prepare food for 500 devotees. The temple opens to a fixed schedule, and all rituals are performed by experienced, knowledgeable Vedic pandits according to proper rites. All the major festivals — Janmashtami, Diwali, Navratri, Bhagavad Gita Katha and Ramayana recitation among them — are organised by the Sabha, which also holds a Sai Baba langar every Thursday for the underprivileged and the poor. The Sabha runs charitable and social services including homeopathy, Ayurveda, acupuncture, yoga, dental care, physiotherapy, and a pathology lab/sample collection centre. Under the Sabha's rules, halls and rooms are also made available for religious and social functions such as satsang, pagdi ceremonies and various medical camps, and an online marriage bureau service has recently been launched. Future plans include expanding charitable services and installing a lift for the elderly and disabled. The work of maintaining and building this temple will continue without pause — devotees are requested to help in whatever way they can, body, mind or wealth. Jai Shri Krishna!
